316i Fehlzündung (English)

    If the chain has skipped, the chainwheels (VANOS) 4&5 are normaly not broken, but the chain is almost overlenght.
    They should change the parts: 1,2,3 an 7.
    Only adjusting the timing is not enough.
    I hope your car is in the hands of real BMW-Pro's.

    Ok so I got my car today, they checked everything and pin point the problem in the Valvetronic sensor/computer malfunction.
    They checked the chain tensionaire, it was the newer one so they didn't changed it.
    They checked the chain and the gears that the chain is connected to, all working good.
    They checked the CCV and changed the return pipe as it was cracked.


    Finally they checked the Valvetronic and found out it wasn't working at all. So they disconnected it and the car stopped misfiring.
    They told me the new Valvetronic sensor and computer costs over 500EUR new but they can find a used one from Greece (Closest official BMW importer) for 120 EUR.

    After months of waiting they did found the sensor, but nothing, it still misfires even with a new sensor. The last BMW service in my country confirmed that they can not fix it, they hand me the car today and they apologized.


    They know it's something connected to the VVT, when they disconnected the sensor it doesn't misfire. And problem is I can't even sell the car :(
